Just a quick update on our should-be-famous "Bring a Friend Over... and their friends too!" Contest...
Bordnlazy's still comfortably in the lead.
Martin Richard's just getting started.
Tochespam's effort didn't pay off yet.
C'mon! Get this ball started! There's less than two weeks left and I need to get at least a T-Shirt worth of regular traffic for this! You can do it! Do like Bordnlazy!
Oh, and while I'm trying to get you guys to increase my popularity, you might just as well vote for me at TopWebComics. It's like brushing your teeth - it takes no time and you should do this daily.
Cheers.

Hope you all had a happy easter. Perhaps some of you crossed paths with the Easter zombie?
It would seem that not alot of people caught on to the retirement of the Easter bunny... Oh, well... there's always next year...
SO, now that Easter is all over; now that everyone who were supposed to come back from the dead did, we're continuing with our little story arc, here at Zombies?
We might remember that Arlene and Zeb mutually agreed on watching a movie at home ... Where will all this lead?
Oh gosh, oh my! What intolerable suspense!.
You might've caught our contest banner up there. Or you might've read it in last week's posts (scroll down, click on the blue days in the calendar. Sometimes, there's more to Zombies? that the comic!)
If you have no clue what I'm talking about... or if you have not started participating yet, check this out.
We've already got a few people playing here. And it'd seem that our friend Bordnlazy (from Zombies Hunters Guild) is taking a comfortable advance. Dont let this be too easy for him!
Also, I've posted a Day of the Dead movie review last week... I've had some fine folks helping me out and stimulating my dormant critic skills in a nice thread over All Things Zombie.
Links galore!
Cheers!

Did I like or dislike Day of the Dead (DotD)? Jury’s still out.
I want to like it really. I’m still trying to. I think I’ll end up growing fond of it. But I doubt it would change what is to follow.
I’m going to try and look at DotD outside its “prequels” (Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead). I’m not comparing them at this point, just trying to get a feel for it as a movie as well as a zombie/horror movie.
I found DotD amusing. But it didn’t go much farther than this. It didn’t shock me, it didn’t even got me thinking. And it surely didn’t scare me. [read more!]

Okay, here goes. I'm ready to start a new contest. Okay, a 1st contest.
It's the official Zombies?"Bring a Friend Over... and their friends too!" Contest!
Here's how it works: you refer people to Zombies? and tell them to refer other people.
For every person you refer, you get one ticket.
For every person that person refers, you get half a ticket.
When time's up, I'll make a draw. The winner'll get something. Something physical.
No, its not a knuckle sandwitch. It's a present.
Now about that present, there's a cool "milestone" strip coming up in a few weeks (on April 11th), and one of the panels there would make for a great T-shirt.
I'm working on a special contest-version of that t-shirt which won't be available any other way. If I get my way, it'll be black. And cool. Definatevly cool.
Okay, so, in order to prevent cheating, here's what you can't do:
- You can't post from the same computer within 3 hours, you'll have to wait.
- You can't refer someone who refered you.
- You can only be referred once (so don't try to say you referred the guy that's winning to get a ton of points, someone already brought him in...).
- You must have been referred in order to participate (just use zeb@zombiescomic.com, he can't win anyways)
That's about it.
Oh yeah. How do you participate? Easy.
Send your referred people here and get them to fill in the following form (and make sure they spell their email addresses right! that's how I know where to put the points and that's how I know how to contact the winner!):
AND DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER YOUR SELF AS A REFERRED PERSON! Otherwise, you're getting zero points. Doesn't matter if you do it after you've referred people. But you need to do it before the end of the contest. Keep the weird code already in the form, or tell it that zeb@zombiescomic.com sent ya.
Don't worry about the email addresses - I'm not giving them to anyone!
In fact, when you complete this form, you'll be brought back here. And you should be able to see a nifty code written in the form.
That code means you.
It means you don't have to give your email address to people if you don't want to. Give them the code instead. Or give them the link that's showing in your browser with your code in it. It'll work. I promise!

I know I've already talked about it this week... but I just finised reading through The Walking Dead, volume 2. I've got a few comics to read ahead of me... If you're not picking up the book, you'll have to wait a little to pikck up volume 3.
I'm not making any money ouf of these amazon links. It's jus a convenience. You must read these books. If you're a comic fan, you need to do it. If you're a zombie fan, it's inconceivable for you not to do it. If you're a fan of well written stories, you absolutely, completely and definately have to get these books.
I'm not kidding. I'm only building up anticipation and raising your expectations and, at the same time, your chances of being disapointed.
But it's seriously ranking with the top modern things I've ever read. All categories confounded. You must not be held back if you perceive comics as an inferior art form. Borrow a copy from someone.
Heck I've even heard of comic shops with the following promotion: "if you don't like The Walking Dead, we'll buy it back from you". They'll sell it right back anyway. It's that good. It is.
So grab a few bucks, encourage worthy artists and read that.
Wearing your Zeb boxers, of course.
Speaking of which, I was considering having a Easter Zombie t-shirt. But since the gag kinda flopped (I think its funny, but it still too rough around the edges... I'll probably fix it when I find time), I'm not sure. Of course, you can always drop me a comment here to let me know how wrong I am.
I am, though, planning a very cool t-shirt which should be available in three weeks ('cuz I can't have the t-shirt come out before the strip, right?).
May you rest in peace!

I bought a few comic books last week. I've been talking with the guy at the comic shop about zombies - he saw I had just purchased a copy of the Zombies!!! board game and was asking about it. Of course, I ended up plugging Zombies? as well, but he ended up plugging The Walking Dead, which he convinced me was must-read material.
So I bought the first trade (book reprinting first 6 issues), the second trade and the following four issues.
This is great stuff. (No, the "great" is not a link, its underlined. I know.)
This is a very well written and drawn piece of fiction. Robert Kirkman (the writer, amongst other things) wanted to go beyond the gorefest that is usually the main dish behind most zombie fiction (graphic, written, animated, etc.) we're used to see.
I've only gone through the first book and it's awesome. I've been scared, surprised, touched. I've said "damn!", quite a few times.
I'm very picky about the books I like - if not about the books I buy. I truly recommend picking this book up. Even if you don't usually (or ever) read comics. If you're a zombie fan... or just a plain fan of things well written, do yourself a favor and pick up the first book. You won't regret it and you'll most likely find youself picking up the second book as well... and wishing that the third one be out already

Well, this is the last monday before easter, so here's an easter special for ya. Whipped up a little "last-minute-like", so I hope you'll forgive me for the lack of proper finishing in there. I've been garanteed that the humor I was trying to convey comes out pretty well, though
Ever heard of zombie pinups? Well, such a concept exists. Consider it extreme reverse-airbrushing. An amusing concept, but probably not for little children

You like comics about zombies? You might want to check out Living with Zombies, which actually was a title I was considering using for my own strip.
So there's for this week's zombie link...
I'm still toiling away on the 'easter special' that'll be shown next week. We'll continue the "girlfriend" story line afterwards.
Cheers!

Might've noticed we got banners now.
I need to retouch them so they stand out a little with the design, but that's besides the point.
Its now possible to advertise on Zombies? for free. Don't be too afraid to check it out.
There's also a nice, anorexic top menu which might help a bit with navigation.
Nothing's in its final stage, but hey, we're making progress!
For today's Zombie link, here's a nice forum that might be worth checking out: Zombie Hunters Guild. It's still new and kinda searching its identity, but its got some zombie fans, a mostly-zombie-oriented collection of forum topics, and a few fans of Zombies?.
And since I like all the fans I can get, at this point, a little pluggin' seemed to be the right thing to do!
cheers!

On the right side of the site, there's some "Zombie links". Yeah, I know, not too obvious. I'm working on an update of the site to improve navigation and other UI considerations. But I digress.
I just noticed that I got linked from Voices in my hand, (which I already link from the before-mentionned right-hand bar). This is cool!
So I'm writing this to equate the linkiness
I wend through the archives and plucked all the Zombie goodness I could find from VIMH. There's more than zombies in there, so I'd invite you to browse in there!
